150 years ago, a global tea trade birthed the golden age of Dadaocheng.
150 years later, global silicon chips place Taiwan at the heart of modern technology.
But the story of the "Oriental Beauty" starts with a scent from the past...
Welcome to Oriental Beauty, a groundbreaking XR theater experience that transports you back to 19th-century Dadaocheng during the Sino-French War. Witness the rise and fall of the legendary "Formosa Tea" and the magical origin of White Tip Oolong. Discover how a tiny insect's bite sparks a miraculous metamorphosis, infusing the tea with its signature sweet honey aroma—a true testament to the Taiwanese spirit of turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.
In this immersive journey, you will walk the historic streets of Dadaocheng and experience the exact moment a tea leaf transforms. This is more than a cup of tea; it is a living monument to Taiwan's climate, earth, and cultural heritage. Experience a breathtaking fusion of culture and innovation, where a century of tea history comes alive through a symphony of light, shadow, and music.

Literature × Music × Generative Art
Adapted from Jade Y. Chen' s acclaimed novel, Oriental Beauty is a visionary cross-disciplinary project that seamlessly
weaves together The Music of Tea—a collaborative composition by Swiss composer Fabian Müller and cellist Pi-Chin Chien—
with the mesmerizing generative art of new media artist Aluan Wang.
Through the precise synchronization of text, acoustics, and algorithms, this immersive theater tightly couples its narrative elements to deliver an unparalleled, multi-sensory journey that redefines the boundaries of digital culture and technological storytelling.
Immersive XR Theater Experience
Constructed through XR technology, this narrative environment seamlessly blends physical and virtual realms. Audiences step directly into the historic setting of 19th-century Formosa tea trade, navigating diverse dimensional spaces as the plot unfolds while physically experiencing the aroma and lingering finish of authentic Taiwanese tea.
Multi-Sensory Synergy
Driven by The Music of Tea — co-created by Swiss composer Fabian Müller and Taiwanese cellist Pi-Chin Chien — the musical score serves as the emotional heartbeat and rhythmic anchor of the experience. Algorithmically generated fluid visuals respond in real time, creating a synchronized, multi-sensory language where melody, light, shadow, and tea fragrance beautifully resonate.
Cutting-Edge 4DGS Integration
Utilizing a custom-built, multi-view dynamic reconstruction system based on 4D Gaussian Splatting (4DGS), the project generates highly realistic volumetric videos with a temporal dimension. This advanced feature drastically amplifies spatial realism and presence, standing as the primary technical breakthrough of the production.
Cross-Disciplinary Tea Masters Collaboration
In an exclusive collaboration with Taiwan' s premier tea master, Yao-Liang Hsu, the production features his meticulously selected Oriental Beauty tea. His oral history is preserved within behind-the-scenes interviews, serving as the foundational asset for the future development of an interactive "Tea Culture Experience System."
